Photo Journal: Costa Rican Jewel: A Tiny Pollinator In Action!
During my recent trip to the vibrant rainforests of Costa Rica, I had an incredible encounter with one of nature's most dazzling gems: the Green Thorntail Hummingbird. This tiny, iridescent marvel was zipping through a sun-dappled clearing, utterly captivated by a patch of brilliant purple porter weed flowers.

As I watched through my lens, it dipped its impossibly long beak into blossom after blossom, and then – magic! Its beak emerged dusted with bright yellow pollen. It was a beautiful, close-up demonstration of how these amazing birds are critical pollinators, helping countless plants, including our food sources, to flourish. It truly is a dance of life playing out before your eyes.
Isn't it fascinating how even the smallest creatures have such a huge impact? Have you ever witnessed a pollinator at work that left you in awe? Share your own favorite nature moments or pollinator sightings in the comments below! I'd love to hear your stories.
