Reddish Egrets became a new specimen to add to my files this winter. I was fortunate to find several at the Audubon Sanctuary in Tampa Bay.
The photographs above and below show the Reddish Egret in his breeding plumage.
It was great to have a chance to add this terrific bird to my list of birds I have photographed. Alas, because the weather was rainy, I will have to go back to Florida and try to add a few shots with some sweet light!

Thanks for the kind words Barney. Hope all is well with you.
really enjoy your blog, for the great photos and interesting storytelling. having said that, I hate to burst your bubble, but both of your pics of the reddish are of the same bird and both taken during times of breeding plumage. the off-season finds the bird with an all black beak and duller feather color. no big deal….. keep up the great work!
fyi, here’ a link to a pic of the very same bird off-season. I mean no harm, just thought you’d like to be accurate….

Jim,
Sorry for the slow reply, for some reason your email was in my spam folder and I didn’t see it. I appreciate very much you pointing out my mistake. You are correct, I would always want to be accurate. I am currently in Maine trying to find some Moose to photograph so I will correct the blog as soon as I return home. Thank you for taking the time to read the blog and make comments.
Best,
Vinnie
